First Post: saying hello and a quick question

Was referred to cgn by a fellow member at my club. Looks like lots of info here to browse when I have the time.
One question tho': after registering I went to go look at the EE forums...even though it lists hundreds or thousands of posts nothing comes up when I click on a thread.
Are there 'extra permissions' to view threads? Sorry, this is probably in a stick somewhere.
