First range day, any warnings?

Hello, just finished getting the oil off my m14 so it's time to shoot it! I have been trying to absorb the knowledge on here, but you guys are scaring the &@$& out of me, is this thing going to blow my face off?

Shooting any new gun the first time Still makes me Cringe ...lol even after all these years ......after the first bang and everything is still there i am okay .....but like Chalk says ...hope you bring lots of ammo

well, it probably will not blow your face off . . . .

some tips:

they don't come sighted in, so google some instructions on adjusting m14 sights and be prepared to spend the time setting your sights up. be prepared to do both the front and rear sights, tool-wise. my sights were off the paper at 100.

do not 'ride the bolt forward' -- pull it back and let it fly

when starting out, load and shoot 1 round from the mag, then 2 rounds from the mag as a function check. capture and examine the cases ejected for weirdness (odd bulging, primer flow, etc.). cases should look a lot like unfired cases save the primer strike mark. maybe do that twice to be sure, then load mags and have fun.

bring tools (screwdriver, supplied multi-tool, allen key set, etc.) in case something loosens on 1st use. then you can tighten up at the range.

bring lots of ammo. lots and lots. really more than you think you need.

be prepared to have fun!

Make sure the rear sight is tight. Otherwise you will sight it in, and then it gets worse and then you figure out why and you start over.

Take your new scope mount, rings and scope the range and set it all up there like I did. Best advice I can give

If you don't shoot lots of ammo through your M14 , yer #### will fall off !

I have never questioned my Sako, CZ or Weatherby.

Put a bayo on the end for the first shot, just in case the barrel flys down range, it'll stick in the ground like a spear. If anyone says something, tell 'em it's how it's supposed to work
