Overall, loved it, had some fouling issues because I was shooting blazer aluminum. Never again with that junk, cleaned it up and went with brass and had no issues. We both liked the 124g loads the best, this was at 10 yards; yes I know I have work to do...

Trigger is great, clean break, no creep or slop, overall a great first day with the gun. Nothing I didn't like.

I also took along my new to me 4506; I'd post a picture of that group but when I think about it I either shudder or laugh. Low, low and more low. Checked my trigger pull with some dry fire and just about lunged over the shelf I was flinching forward and down so bad. Stupid brain. A lot more work and probably some coaching to get there.

Sweet looking 1911, I like how SAM leaves the slides blank, looks to be a well executed beaver tail too, no unsightly gaps. I've been interested in handling one to see how they compare to the Norc's and see if they are worth the extra money. Your comparisons of the two guns is one of the reasons I dont usually recommend 1911's to beginner shooters, its really easy to fall in love with the trigger, and its a lot easier to get by with marginal trigger control, and some of your skills or performance wont be transferable to other platforms if you ever switch.

Nice gun,,,,those gun's are definitely a good value. The fact you can get them in stainless is a big seller over the Norc's I bet. Im a Commander guy as well and have been eyeing them up.

Ya 5" is better. I just got a Commander because of seeing them in OSS books and video's when I was a kid. Through out WWII and the cold war some of the covert guy's would get commander's. Dead cool in my books. And scroll up and look at the thing!!! They just look bad ass in that configuration. Certain 1911's Id have a tough call of which barrel size I'd want.

I love my SAM commander I dont know I wil ever sell it, Ill buy more but still keep this one. It woukd make a perfect conceal gun if we lived in the states lol, the larger Thunderbolt like any full size version has allot more mass moving around, the Commander is a dream to shoot its like nothing in your hands. Its a great gun for the money, its noyhing fancy just real nice.

Cheers,
Evan

For the value, the S.A.M. 1911A1 autos beat just about everybody. The only manufacturers who come close are Ruger's SR1911, Remington's 1911 and STI's Spartan, but they are all priced higher. [don't get me started on that chi-com junk]
The S.A.M. 1911A1 Military 45 @ C$440.00 is an outstanding value. I bought the full size S.A.M. 1911A1 Military 9mm. Simply fabulous....
