First Real Gun/Calibre Options

I certainly agree that there's no substitute for practical experience, but I figured this would be one of the best places to get as much good information as possible before heading to the range on a nice (ie busier) day. I find that unless one already knows the topic, asking retailers for advice is generally a bad idea.

I'm still trying to figure out why the letters 'WSM' tend to triple the price of a cartridge.

Another question I've been wondering about is how useful is a detachable magazine vs a blind magazine? I've only used detachable mags before and the bind mags seem like quite an inconvenience. Is this the really the case or do most people not really care?
