First reloads - 30-06 (picture)

I went moose hunting with a buddy, his dad and his uncle. Both those good ol boys were shooting reloads and have been doing so since late 70's. That is when I got interested in it. Pretty satisfying so far I must say, haven't even shot the darn things yet.

I just de-primed, resized, and trimmed my first 20 cases the other day, my wife said the smile on my face couldn't have been any bigger!

Make your own kinetic puller. Drill a hole diameter slightly larger than brass and deep enough to put enough round into. Then drill second hole slightly larger than shellholder at depth of shellholder.

Put round into shellholder, use paper to pad up the notch where the brass rim is not supported. Put into hole in wood, cover the hole with tape or anything to keep round from jumping up. Tap the wood on hard surface till bullet pulls out to desired depth.

Lee dies comes with shellholder so now you have a puller for all you calibers.

I too, of course, would fire the deep seated bullet, only I would use it as an experiment. That is, I would fire it as one of a five shot group. Carefully fire the group, using the best rest you can get and ideally, hide it from yourself, so you don't even know which of the group it is.
My guess is that there will be no wild flyer in the group and the size of the group will be average of what you shoot with that rifle and the other cartridges you loaded.

That's a thoughtful response. Shoot a "fouling shot" from one of the long seated rounds, and then a five shot group with "shorty" as the fifth.

Do you have a picture of said device? I'm a visual learner : )

ya just shoot it, as long as its not like th 38spl i loaded, ive made up thousands of rifle rounds, first round of pistol, it was an early morning, i had a brainfart, just seated the bullet without screwing out the seating die thinking id be kinda close to start and turn it in or out compared where i needed it and none of it was sticking out of the case when i returned the ram, it had the top about 1/8" inside the top of the case, copper pipe cutter i cut it open and took it apart and still have a bullet wedged in a brass case wall

If you don't mind destroying the bullet, remove the die from the press, go up on the ram and grip the bullet tightly with a pair of pliers or vise grips, go down on the ram pulling the bullet out of the case. I've done this lots of times. Just be careful not to grip the case neck. Cheers pete.
