Well today was a great day I finally shot my first reloads for my 7mm-08. Loaded up some 140gn TTSX with varget and hit the range. Seem's that 40.5gn was the most accurate giving me .6 inch groups with 41 around 1 inch and 41.5 around 1.5 inches. I have to say it's a great feeling shooting something you put together yourself. Also guy's is it possible to figure out a rough estimate on velocity with 40.5gn without using a chrony?

congrats! it's fun to see all the ammo pile up as you reload your own. very satisfying.

what does the reloading data you looked at say? it should give you a very rough estimate.

Hey OP,
You'll not likely be quite so impressed with that factory box ammo anymore. eh?.
Congrats on your early success. Welcome to the fraternity.
Reloading IS shooting for many a serious gun nut.

Tuning/refining a load is why I shoot.

Hold on to yer wallet though, there's always one more combo to be tested.

Right On! I know EXACTLY how you feel.... I started reloading about a month ago as well, and I followed other "recipe's" on my first batches, then i tried some of my "own" stuff, and had great success as well. it was awesome. all i have for now are .223 dies, but will be getting the stuff for my .308 very shortly. I have a feeling the .308 will be more challenging, and more rewarding, especially when i start getting into the 800 -1000 yard stuff.! some of those coyote's are a long way off ;-)

enjoy yourself, and play safe!

I enjoy loading my own ammo as much or possibly even more than shooting them off.Enjoy that feeling and welcome to the club!
