First restricted purchase paperwork questions

I just purchased my first restricted and have a few paperwork questions.

- I understand that the store is initiating the transfer, does that transfer automatically send a signal to the RCMP to send me my new (. 0002) Rpal with transport conditions attached? Or do I have to call them myself to get that going?

- Once the transfer is complete, do I need to wait for the new physical plastic rpal in the mail to take the firearm from the store to my house? Or does the transfer cover that to take it home?

- To take it to the range I have to wait for the registration in the mail, make copies and put 1 with firearm, have my new Rpal (and the paper attached)

For paperwork, Is that it? Am I missing anything?

Thank you.

New PAL with .0002 will come automatically with new Special Conditions sheet

Transfer paper will cover taking it home from place of purchase

Correct

Thank you!
Pretty happy I can bring it home with the transfer. Any approximate idea how long it takes for a new card and the registration to get to your mailbox?

They print the reg papers once a week in Miramichi from what I have read.

I usually get mine 12 to 14 'business days' after the date on the transfer. You may get yours quicker in ON due to closer via snail mail.

New PAL - in my opinion yours is still valid until you get your new one.
The special conditions are attached to your license if it ever got looked up by a Leo, whether or not you want to wait for the new PAL card and conditions sheet is up to you.
If I got my reg sheet before my new card, personally I would take the firearm to the range.... YMMV

Hello everyone I am also a virgin hand gun owner and have a question. I had to send a photo of my range membership to the CFO to complete the transfer. Do I have to send that every time I do a purchase? I would hope not. Thanks. ZOW

Hello, I'm doing my first restricted transfer, business to private. Is it normal that the transfer notice sent only to business?

I'm asking because the webstore updated my order status to "shipped" but my emailbox got nothing from CFO. Will it cause some legal problems?

usually if you ask for it with the transfer reference number they will email you the "buyer's notification" transfer at the same time when the business gets their "seller's notification". If you don't ask for it, then it's kind of by luck. I sometimes get it but most of the time I don't.
If you call CFO with that reference number they will tell you if it's completed/approved.
But rest be assured, it's approved if the business has shipped it out.

Many thanks for your response !

I didn't ask for a "buyer's notification". Maybe that's the reason they don't bother to send it to me.

You would have to send them your email, to get a notice, via email, usally you get one in the mail, sometime.
If you take your new toy to the range , before you get a new card and conditions in the mail, for first time owners,
You are transporting without a legal ATT, I don't know of anyone getting checked, but something to think about.
In 60+ yrs, I have never been asked for a card, Att, other than one time at Calgary gun show, as I was crossing borders.
Could be the same year that Calgary police was doing stupid crap,
trying to make points ,I guess or just being ass's

So next time when the seller initiates a transfer and provides you the reference number you email CFO with that reference number asking to add a note that when it’s done you would be notified via email.
And most of the time they will email you the notification when it’s done if you do that.
I say most of the time because it happened to me that I got my pistol before hearing anything from CFO either email or mail. Who knows what and how they do things.
Ontario CFO is relatively responsive even though they are the slow

Thanks for the infos. Actually when I got a call from CFO office (yes, in QC they call the 1st time buyer and all 2 references to do an interview...), the guy verified my email address. I thought I would receive the notice in email but I don't...

Thanks for advice!

I did get a msg from webstore including the reference number, but in the same msg I was told that it's a business to private sale, so I don't need to call CFO, the reference number is just for my record...

Next time I will call CFO to get the "buyer's notice" (BTW, I can't find anywhere Quebec CFO's email address...)
