First rifle for the little one?

NorthCoast', how well do the girls manage with having to #### the exposed hammers on the Favourite, Crackshot and similar? I ask because the exposed hammer guns I've got seem a little tough. Easy enough for an adult of course but small hands and weak thumbs and all that.....

And those are great shots of our up'n'coming new shooters. Well done all! ! ! !

The single shot rascals, Henrys are a great fit but they outgrow them fast. Too bad the didn't make them come with a 5 rnd mag. Since we're doing pics , thought I'd share. The fanning posture is theatrical only:)

All excellent choices... I will throw my experience and recommendation into the mix. I walked into the local gun shop and asked to see their oldest and most run down firearms and I walked out with a $20 shotgun and a $40 single shot .22. The shotgun was a write off and is now in my parts bin but as for the .22, after I cleaned the surface rust off the barrel with some OOO steel wool, ran a bore snake down the barrel a few times and whipped down the stock with some tung oil... all of a sudden it had become the families favourite rifle!

It was an old Anschultz and after I grouped 1/4 inch with a 1 inch flyer at 25 yards with iron sights, my kids, my wife and the shop owner's eyes perked up. Moral of the story, asked around for the old stuff!

we got a couple cooeys here, they might work if you cut the stock and the barrel down to fit the little ones. would work but not ideal.

i have a old single shot here thats way smaller, not sure what make but can check. fits way better and lighter.

my kids 5 and shoots the 10/22 good from a rest, a ss/syn with fire sights. I really recommend the fire sights for the kids as easy to use and see.

also have a video of him shooting clays with the HR snake tamer 410 :) - didn't hit any though, not quite ready for that. has shot the 22-250 and 223 of the bench once to see how it felt. lol

I have an XT-22ysr single shot marlin for him for xmas that i think will be just right and its pretty fancy with the ss and laminate stock and fire sights, discontinued model real hard to find though. 915ys too.

that being said hes the deadliest with the Red Ryder BB gun, i think cause it light and he can hold it pretty steady and fits good. cheap to shoot too.

The TC break open is a great little gun.
I'm of the opinion that maybe a bolt action 22 if the youngsters are
going to hunt later on.
This way they can practice and learn on the offerings of the bolt rifles.

Yup the TC's are a decent gun for a kid. They even come with a piece to extend the stock as they grow.

Good question - I found myself cocking it for the younger one (5 in that picture) but my 9 year old had no problem with it!
