I have had every conceivable 22 ever manufactured and settled on the Marlin golden 39. They are accurate, light, and I love the take down feature for cleaning and storage. Best advice is go to a major shop, shoulder all of them and decide from there.

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure the CZ's are everything that folks say they are. I've seen too many nice tight groups to discount the claims in any manner. But com'on, an UNBIASED opinion?
Even with the "LOL" on the end it made me choke on my drink.... Given that the higher priced Golden Boy is one of the stated options price wise the CZ would be on par. Although if the rifle AND scope combo is added together then the Savage and scope as a combo would be on par with the Henry price wise.
The Savage I got seems like with a little practice on my part that it'll be capable of regular dime size groups at 25 yards. And that was just with a quickly picked out ammo (CCI SV). As I learn to barely touch the rifle it should manage to shrink that down even more.
I had two 452's, the Varmint and an American but sold both to buy a Remington 40BX. I was about to buy a 455 American when a BSA Martini Mk II got in the way.
I am not getting rid of my Marlin 39M unless it is to get an older model of the same.

I can't think of a better interruption than one of those. A truly superb rifle as long as the use of the peep sights is what the buyer wants.

Ya know, none of this other than the posts saying to buy both is really helping. Well, other than we all like both options and basically are saying buy the one you find first or flip a coin. There's no way to lose either way. Then buy the other a bit later on.
Wow, Thanks for all the comments I did not expect so many replies so quickly. I think eventually I will get both of these guns anyway based on reviews I have read and end up keeping the Goldenboy around forever just because it looks so nice. I now realize after looking into it more that it will be about equal price once I take scope mounting into consideration. I would likely not be shooting off the bench as much and most of my shooting will be out at the farm to begin with, maybe start going to the range later on. I think the best option for the first gun will be the Mark II and once I get more familiar with shooting the Henry could be added to my collection for fun afterwards. I know I am in for a lot of money spent on firearms and hope to develop quite the collection over the years.
I do not have any interest in 10/22 or any semi-automatic right now. I don't need or want to be able to shoot that fast and I have shot buddies semi-autos and don't really find them fun. The Mark II's are available where I'm at and the CZ even if I really wanted to go for it is backorderable as of now. But all this could change by the time I get my PAL I suppose
And yes, I have heard all about the wait time for the PAL, hoping it will not be so bad in the middle of winter in Saskatchewan but you never know. It's already killing me after just a week and a half.

I LOVE my Henry h001. Always goes bang, no matter what is in the magazine tube, shorts, longs, it don't matter. im shooting under an inch at 50 yards with an old 4X fixed banner. I had one issue with my front sight post, which was resolved by Henry. I emailed them once about the issue, they returned my e mail with a tracking number for a new front sight. Nothing bad to say about a HENRY!

I strongly reccomend holding the Henry before buying the golden boy and the frontier are different feeling rifle from one to the next I couldn't get a good cheek weld at all with the golden boy.
I have a Savage MKII TR and a Golden Boy (in .22mag) and wouldn't part with either. As far as I am concerned both are great guns - but for very different reasons. The Savage, especially running Mini Mags, is a tack driver and will challenge your target skills. The Golden Boy is one of the most fun guns to shoot ever - but the buckhorn iron sights will never be as accurate past 25yds or so as decent glass on the Savage.
The bottom line is that if you try both and love both - then own both. Even if it takes some saving of the old pennies I don't think you will regret having both in your safe.
Just as an aside - if you want to stick to rimfire and really want to put multiple rounds thru one small hole - .17hmr is hard to beat.

I have a Savage MKII BTVSS and a Ruger 10/22 Takedown, would never sell either. The Savage is much nicer overall, especially that sweet thumbhole stock, but the Ruger is very compact and fun to shoot (think GSG 110 round drum mag)
