is 2x7 a possibility? i like the idea of of being able to dial it down to 2x in wooded areas. just dont know if its too weak for the longer shots. obviously a new guy question.
will keep my eyes open for a vx2 2x7 or maybe even try the vx freedom. as far as rings go ive read good things about talley and optilock. not sure if one stands out over the other. does anyone think its worth mounting a base and rings instead?
I put a T3 hunter with VX2 in talley rings together for my brother and he is very pleased with it. I think it made a fine rig and offered to buy it back if he didn't like it, but he didn't take me up on it. The leupold scopes are light and have plenty of tube space for mounting rings and adjusting eye relief. I like the combined simplicity of the talley rings and have used them successfully on several rifles.
Leupold 3.5-10 x 40 VX3i. Buy once, cry once.
I just picked up a tikka t3x hunter in 308.
I'm trying to decide what glass to get it. i want to set the gun up hunting opposed to target. the farthest my range goes is 300 yards and the hunting distance will probably be less then that. im a bit confused on how much i should be spending. i obviously want it to hold zero and dont want the glass fogging. the place where i got the gun showed me a few scopes i liked the Burris droptine over the vortex crossfire but there current selection sort of went up to the 1000.00 scopes with no middle priced ones. i didn't know leupold stopped making the vx2. i haven't herd a lot about the vx freedom. i did read good things about the droptine and fullfield scopes. i would appreciate opinions on this.
i am reading about scopes to get a better understanding.
thanks.
