Recently received my RPAL and researching for my first purchase. The Ruger Mark IV and SW-22 Victory consistently pop up in my searches. Any other suggestions from the more seasoned veterans?

Buckmark campers are annoyingly accurate for a homely looking pistol selling in the $450-$600 depending on what’s included or if it’s stainless or not. On the other end of the spectrum a s&w k17 is quite elegant with a price to match.

I have the SW-22 Victory. It's an awesome Pistol. Can't go wrong!!

+1. I'd tried and liked a Ruger Mk IV then along came the legislation... I was looking for a Mark IV when my LGS got a Victory22 and let me kn ow about it. I tried it and bought it.
You cannot go wrong with either. I've been very happy with my S&W (crabon fubar wrapped barrel with brake).

Ruger MK IV 22/45 LITE. Can't say anything negative about it. It's the Toyota Camery of the rimfire world. Parts galore if you ever want to customize it to your taste. Just purchased another and a Volquartsen Black Mamba. Great all for all your .22lr needs.

I had a Ruger Mark 4 and it was a great gun except it did not feel right in my hand even with multiple grip changes. I sold it and bought a Smith and Wesson Victory. Both of these would make a fine firearm for your collection. I would also like to recommend High Standard. I have a Field King 101 and it is exceptional.

Ruger Mark IV tops my list. It strips like an AR upper for easy cleaning. Accuracy is also very good. Next will be CZ Kadet, Browning Buckmark Contour or any of the Buckmark series, Ruger Mark I-III (accurate and reliable but damn tricky to strip and clean). GSG 1911 is cheap and fun, but requires upgrades and constant slide lubrication to run smoothly. Unless they have improved the slide material, you might need a slide rebuild as it wears out like crazy and rattles after 20K rds. Or get a decent rimfire conversion for your centerfire pistol. You can find good conversion kits for Glocks, 1911s, CZs. GSG also makes conversion kit, but suffers the same fate as the pistol, weak slide rail that wears out badly. Yes, they are cheap, and you get what you pay for. CZ Kadet kit is highly recommended, so as its clone: Antreg Zenith available from a supporting dealer out west. I have one, and it ran perfect with stock springs. It will be finicky with upgraded springs in your CZ pistols. Advantage Arms 22 kit for Glock seems to be good based on reviews. Marvel, Ceiner and Nelson conversion kits has some good followings for 1911. Hard to find here, but worth exploring if it pops up on the resale market.
