Just received word that we are getting 5 ruger #1's sent to us in 2-3 weeks. They are 1-A's in the new 2013 chambering of 222 rem...
Good news, its been 15 months+ since they made a #1... :)

At one time, many years ago, I owned a #1 AB that was originally a custom order. [222 Remington]
Early in #1 production, Ruger would custom chamber a #1 in almost any caliber of a customer's choice.
My #1 had a 3 digit serial number, so was very early production.
Regretfully, in a moment of weakness, I traded it away. :(
Eagleye.

I remember seeing a Ruger no 3 in 222rem a few years ago at a gun show, I first thought it was a rechamber or rebarrel but it appeared to be all factory.I didn t know the no 3 was made in that cal but there you go.

Can someone explain to me their fascination with Ruger #1's?

Not being a smart ass, I have no experience with these rifles. What would be so thrilling about a single shot Ruger 1A in .222rem?

Go into a gunshop and fondle one. They are not for everyone, but they are a very high quality firearm for a very fair price. Consider the price of other Farquharson rifles. They usually start at $5000 and go waaaay higher. There is just something about them, they are slim, carry very well and just feel quality. My .300 H&H will never be replaced in the safe.

Clay, a .222 sure is tempting. May have to drop into the shop for a look-see :)

I saw that Ruger was putting out some in .222 Rem, which is a neat little classic varmint round.
What would be super nice is if they would bring out the Light Sporter in 25-35 & 32-40 Winchester
as well as 38-55, all with 24" barrels. Now THAT would be cool!
:)
