Ok I'm not sure what is better for this application. I just picked up a Savage 10fp in 223 with the carbine lenght barrel. I'm considering the Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP,or a Bushnell 3200 Elite 5-15x40. I'm totaly new to this, only shot once with a scope years ago. Plan on shooting under 500 yards to start with. Which one would you all suggest?

I use my Bushy Elite 3200 5-15x40 out to 700 and it is great. Although I had another guy who said he couldn't even see the target with it, so it depends on your eyes.
Personally I would pick a Bushy Elite over a Falcon. Once you get better move up to a Nightforce or a Schmidt and Bender. You can find the Bushys on the EE from time to time under the $400 mark.

It comes down to personal preference. The Falcon is not much more monies than the falcon new. Unlikely you will find one used tho.

I like both. Personally I think some of the features on the falcon give it a slight edge. I am a fan of the FFP reticle, as well as the option of metric clicks (matched to reticle) and the side focus. Also if you ever do decide you'd like to shoot longer ranges the falcon should have a larger amounts of internal adjustment.

Thats how I would look at it right now.... however if for some reason I couldn't get a falcon I certainly wouldn't hesitate to go for the bushnell either.

Both are great for the $$$ and I'm sure you'll be pleased with either.

You should also check out Vortex scopes. I love mine; great glass, unbeatable warranty, and reasonable price.
