First semi under 1000$ ?

English Canada places the symbol in front of the number. In French the symbol is placed after the number but it just looks weird to me.

The majority of the industrialized world places the symbol ahead of the number. Canada is an English speaking nation and his post is in English.

Here are your option under 1000 $:
T97: sponcer dealer got them at 850 $ I think: its a norinco but might still be good, its a bullpup so good balance but slow mag change. Its not ideal to scope

Vz58. Good clean fun!: but a lot of problem with ####ty manufacturing with the internal (they break or are off spec) they acknowledge the problem, so a fix might be in. But it less ideal the the t97 to scope.

The mini14: said to be reliable (not mine) supplied with scope ring and the archangel stock is real nice ( but it gives you a heavy gun, it use proprietary mag, I like the tapco (can't use ar mags) front heavy gun

Su16: good price, easy to mount optic, takes ar mag there a nice ar stock and pistol grip converstion. My only reserve is the polymer mag.

Mr1 a bit over your budget(1500-1800 $) take ar mag easy for optics. Awkward ergoes and long to field stripe. .

I am no fan of the 22 rifles, to me its past borring ( that just me to each there own :) )

Wow! Just wow... 8153 posts and you still haven't learned to respect French Canadians? Canada is a bilingual French-English nation. I'm seriously offended to a point where my blood is boiling, you're quite insulting...
I give people respect until they prove me wrong, and you're proven me wrong sir!

Well canada is officially bilingual, quebec is french and nb is officially bilingual and we are I believe close to 50 50... I guess that's why I was always putting my $ after the number... its funny I never noticed this before. You learn something every day!

Yeah I kinda agree. that sounded as bad as the Quebecers not allowing English on there signs! Its not french canada and its not English canada its bilingual! Stick with it! You want a English nation then go to the us or uk, you want a french go to france! But leave my bilingual canada alone! :)

English is what the vast majority of Canadians speak. Quebec doesn't feel they're part of Canada and have the "nation within a nation status". English is the international language of business and aviation and is what 99% of the posts on this forum are posted in. Its your right to be offended but that's where your rights end.

As for the op, as posted above your options bring pros and cons. Unfortunately its near impossible to find a quality rifle under a grand that fits your specs.

When I was in Montreal I noticed something, while I was waiting in line at the store to pay, the cashier and the customer in front of me are talking, they are clearly francophone but are speaking english to eachother quite well. Now when I get to the cashier I say Hi, and she responds in french so I say sorry, I thought you spoke english, she says no and then speaks to one of her co workers in french thinking I don't understand what she is saying. It happened at a few places and found it very rude, but I also met some very nice french speaking canadians as well

Yeah that's the way it ofter is in quebec . In n-b you can be serve in french and english anywhere!

Lots of good suggestions so far. I think my best bet would be the JRC in 9mm. It's just sad that you can't shoot cast bullet with it. Is it possible to get a mag adapter to make it looks like an AR mag?
SU16 are interessting too, but I've heard they are cheap plastic gun (?), so I'm not sure about this one.
CX4 has a unique look but isn't as tacticool as the other two.
MSR 22 looks cool but it's a .22lr and I already have a semi-auto .22lr.
How are all these gun when field stripping? I like how the AR15 is easy to strip and really hate how my .22lr is: I have to disasemble every parts to get to the bolt.

As for the dollard sign , I always put mine after the number because I'm a proud french Canadian and it makes more sense to me. You don't say "I bought a shirt for dollars 50" you say "I bought a shirt for 50 dollars" Anyways...

As for our national identity Canada is bilingual, like it or not, and it's written in our constitution. If you don't like it, vote for the Bloc Québécois, then you'll have your English only Canada and your French only Québec.

Just throwing this out there but what about an m305 / m14. The socom version looks sweet and so does the m14.ca black feather stock

nice try, but the english speaking canadians are not going to fall for that one.

If Quebec wants to seperate from canada, Quebec can pony up their portion of the national debt and then buy their way out of this country, land isn't free.
