first setup what am i missing

Calipers I have and I'm building an 8'x2' bench to mount everything on. What am I missing? Are factory crimp dies needed/worth buying?
 
I realize some people don't like lee equipment but I hunt not target shoot and these rifles will be lucky if they see 50 -100 rounds ayear. I have lymann 49th and the lymann 3rd ed cast bullet books and have barnes and hornady on order.

What's a decent trimmer. Should I be looking at hornady or rcbs?
 
I wouldn't bother with the .45-70 case length gauge, they won't stretch and you can't trim them shorter with this tool.

You shouldnt need the factory crimp die for these rounds. You could use it if your are loading the .45-70 for lever action, but you can also crimp with the regular seating die anyways.

Don't know what the extra lock rings are for. Also not sure what your plan was for the extra die boxes. Most dies come with ones to fit. Do you already have some old dies? I don't use the breech lock bushings, I just leave one in the press and find that dies with Lee lock rings can be easily changed and set the same on their own.

I have ordered a C type Lee Reloader press to try, but it has the worse reputation of the Lee single stages for failure. I would either size bullets on your breech lock challenger, or buy a second Breech lock or Classic cast for this.

Also a case/media seperator to sort stuff out after tumbling is handy. A rotary one with a bucket works best for me. FA makes one.

It is very difficult for one to "bite his tongue" when he has seen the recommended equipment fail on so many occasions. I think there is more at play here though, maybe the amount of "dealers" trying to flog this cheap equip?
Anyhow the OP looks like he has already purchased equip., so it is not for me to say!
 
Now now play nice with Ben, it`s christmas after all. I`ll say it for him and get you all off his back. Don`t waste your money on Lee junk, buy a co-ax press and have the best.:D:stirthepot2:
 
I've been using the so called LEE crap for at least 25 year's.That include's the powder scale.
I only own quality equipment,I sold the inferior green stuff long ago.
 
Might i suggest a stuck case remover, on bottle neck cases eventually you will mess up the lube processes and its never when the gun store is open. Even if they are open they will be out of stock. Spend the $20 bucks now and put it next to the bullet puller.
Also good lube if you haven't gotten some; Hornady Unique or Imperial Sizing Wax.
 
I'll second the bullet puller and add the ABC's of reloading. A small mirror as well if you want to check primer seating depth.
 
Thanks for the replies. The reason for the extra bushings and lock rings is to have one for each die. In notorious for loosing stuff. I'm hoping the bench I'm building will help learn me. I'm by no means a precision shooter so and most of the ammo ill load will be cast for my 45-70 for short range fun and coyotes with the 25o6. In southern ontario I won't be burning any barrels out. Thanks again for the input and ill scrap the factory crimp dies
