I finally got to try out my new VZ-58. I went through 60 rounds of Czech surplus ammo. I had one FTE, but other than that it was all good :D . The recoil was less than I expected and I was not using a muzzle brake.

It seems like a pretty accurate rifle, although I am not the most accurate shooter, especially since this was my first time firing a centrefire rifle (I'm more of a handgun shooter).

I enjoyed shooting it, although it took a little bit adjustment to find a shooting position that did not have me straining my neck, I ended up shooting with the butt stock more on my pec than in the space between the shoulder and pec (sorry, do not know proper term).

All in all I am very pleased with this rifle and look forward too shooting it again.

.

I suspect that a number of VZ 58 owners have to modify positions as the stock seems quite short(with a armour vest, it would be fine I suppose). One ends up shooting it quite like an SMG or something.

I did not find that the stock was short, I just found it a little difficult getting a comfortable position, but as I said this is my first centerfire rifle and it may just take a little time to get used to. But it shoots well and is confortable when shooting like an SMG as you and some others have said
