First shotgun: winchester sxp vs mossberg 500

My brother had nothing but problems with his brand new Mossberg 500. Would never go bang. After careful inspection found a metal bure. Once we filed everything smooth it was okay after that. But really disappointed in Q/C

For that reason. I vote winchester.

I plan to be doing a Mossberg 500 Road blocker build with the ATI Halo 9 round add a shot, the ATI flip up and over folding stock with a six round add a shot single point harness loop and some kind of single harness... I am thinking the Uncle Mike's 25 Shot master harness. the bulk of this I can get between three stores here in Edmonton may need to hit the web for a few things.

I had a Persuader. Never again. I'd take a broken Winchester over a brand-new Mossberg any day. I'd never trust my life to one.

But that's my 2 cents.

Cannon

I had a Mossberg 500 field version and have just sold it the other day. I didn't like anything about it (bought it on-line without handling one before - my mistake). It did not fit me properly, felt like a cheap rattling tin gun with "artificial" wood and pressed checkering. I can't see "Made in USA" as a quality feature for this gun. Will never buy a Mossberg again.

Bulk...you said it!

... Granted I am a 260 lb Press shop worker with a 38 waist and move 20 - 50 lb bundles or boxes of books all day. I often forget most people do not have the ability to cart loads around the bush that I do.

I like the folding stocks and Mare's Legs in the bush...

I have been told by enough people (owners and dealers ) that the new mossbergs don't have the same quality especially in the combo packs as the old 500's . Two guys at work bought mossbergs combos in the 535 . One sight on the turkey barrel won't stay tight . The other bought a new cantilever barrel and didn't use it right away , only to find out it is bent one way so much so that he can't sight in his scope and it's been over 1 year so he doesn't think he can return it. He did contact a dealer who said there have been a few come back. I was considering a BPS myself and had found a few used ones (Medallions i think ) in the 400 to 500 dollar range which i thought was pretty fair . I had checked out the sxp 24" turkey and it felt pretty good to but like they said about the safety , as a lefty it's a little awkward . I'm still debating . If it was a pump i think myself i'd go with the BPS or older 500 with screw ins . But i'm still holding out for a lighter gun in a 20 gauge semi .
