As i wait for my PAL/RPAL to come in the mail I'm starting to look at a shotgun. I'll eventually use it for hunting turkey, small game and deer etc but for now its just for trap. I'm looking at the Mossberg 535 ATS combo from Bass Pro. ( H ttp://www.basspro.com/Mossberg-535-ATS-Combo-Shotgun/product/10218113/ )My buddy has an 870 thats why I'm leaning towards a Mossberg. I'm just looking for a few suggestions on what would be a good all purpose gun. IT has to be from bass pro because i have a crap load of gift cards from there. Thanks,

Depending how much a "crap load" is, I always recommend Benelli products. Nova and supernova have 3.5'' chambers just like the mossberg you noted.

Mossberg is a solid gun though, if that is your price range.

I would avoid new 870's, they suck.

Get what fits you, mossburg is a workhorse, ive got the 500, its better then a 535 for fast followups concidering chamber is smaller, less length to move when most shells you will use are in the 2.75" range, imo 3.5 is too much length to rack when doing fast shots

I wanna stay around 400$. the 535 is only 10$ more than the 500 combo. h ttp://www.basspro.com/Mossberg-500-Shotgun-Combo/product/10217926/ is it worth it for the 3.5 inch shell capability? I also like wood furniture.

535 all the way great all round tool .i have had mine for many years now hunted everything from bunnys turkeys and deer with not one hiccup

Id say go take a look at the prices on the shelves of 3.5" 12 ga, 2.75 and 3" do everything and then some, anything bigger and might as well invest in a 10 ga instead. 3.5" just lengthens the string of shot when used, i have a buddy that uses 7/8oz of #5 at 1200fps in a 2.75" for turkey, it works just fine. No matter what, when you are on target you will hit what you aim at no matter the shell length. 3.5 is overkill and much easier to learn a good pump with a shorter action stroke

you can buy a shotgun somewhere else and spend your gift cards to buy shells from Basspro.
Lebaron has much better prices.
My friend and I shoot at least 125 rounds each every time we go to the shooting range.

So i went to bass pro today to look at the mossberg 535 or the 500 and they didn't have ether in stock!! I wish i had the cash instead of the gift cards. the guy said they never know when or what they get in stock. it was little a frustrating now ill never know when ill get my first shotgun.

the price difference is like 104 from the 3' mossberg 500 and the 3.5' mossberg 535. so is it worth it to have the 3.5 inch option? or do i just stick with the 3'? that was a good read. thanks.
