Was in the sand pit behind the house at our Ontario farm house and after shooting my 10mm TD, i decided to try my XCR-M 308, did pick up 2 mags and 40 rounds of AE 150 gr... This is a easy rifle, it feed, eject sooo smooth and the recoil is almost minus 223, 40 rounds went fast, just blowing away, great fun factor and if i can have that rifle to shoot some sub MOA groups, it will be a bonus, i give it a.... WOW +... JP.

Thats been the first whole heartedly positive review of the XCR-M I've heard!

Glad to hear you're getting the groupings you like. That was my only concern when I saw them at shot show last year.

Did not shoot for groups today, just tried it, load devellopment will start early summer... JP.

It shoots very smooth, and good ergonomics.
What I didn't like was the vertical stringing and the amount of wear after just a couple hundred rounds...
Caramel seems to be able to pull outstanding groups out of average rifles, so I'm curious to see how his xcr-m works out for him.
Personally, I'll consider him Jesus himself if he can shoot two, 1 moa five round groups on the same piece of paper without discounting "flyers".

ooooOOOOOoooo

Challenge: two, 1 moa five round groups on the same piece of paper without discounting "flyers".

Reward: Christ-hood

I misread the first post and though you were reporting back some excellent starter groups. I should have known better: you always post pictures

I accept Caramel as my savior. I'm too indecisive to make a choice for what NR scary rifle to get, and not enough of a fool to tempt the fates by loading like 8 grand of rifles on my visa.

Faith my friends, just have faith, we will cross the bridge when we get to the river, a rifle it's is own entity, after the deception of not being able to have a 3500.00 rifle (Swiss Arm Black special ) make better groups than a 1600.00 rifle ( MR-1 ) is still on my mind... By succeding at having this XCR-M into the sub-Moa class would ease the deception if it is not possible it will give me an another option at a paddle to row my boat... JP.

The XCR-M really does fill an interesting niche in the Canadian firearms landscape. In the states it has to compete with things like the OBR and LMT rifles, but up here it really only stacks against the RFB and M14. Maybe the FNAR if there was a regular source for them.

In fact, if you identify short comings that could be easily fixed with a bit of smithing, I'd say that would be a worthwhile upgrade in order to get yourself a non-restricted, modern DMR style setup.

Good luck, 100 yard groups from a rested position with the xcr-m:

You can get decent 3 or 4 round groups with the xcr-m, but 5 to 10 round groups not so much.

I will start soon after advising the right persons a quest to bring up a FNAR 308 from a dealer in the states, the price really took a dive down there, i guess for around 14-1500.00 all in, i will get one, i will start my quest when i will be coming back from Europe in March, the FNAR is certified MOA... JP.

He lost me at recoil like a .223, I have xcr-m's(yes multiple) and xcr-l's and I agree the m is a soft shooter for a .308 but no where close to the rocking chair action the .223 gives out.

May have be unclear, the recoil of what you may fell out of 223 bolt action, or it would compare to my Nemesis 308 with it's big muzzle break, it is very tame, i could easily stayed on my pop bottles for follow shots... JP.

NTM Were those factory rounds or reloads in your 100 yard photos?

Thanks for your time.

Chizzy

A difficulty that is been added to make a semi shoot MOA or better, is the gaz ajustment setting, this will be crucial for great precision, got to play with gaz setting with my SVT-40 and succeded at develloping and shooting 1.5 MOA with open sight with the perfect gaz setting for that particuliar load, this was the key, so past experience will serve me here, so i am not to worry getting goods results, it will just need a longer period for load development but at the end, i will succed... In all of my life the only rifle that made me trowed the towel was a Mini-14, for the rest always got goods to extra stellars results... JP.

I've been out playing with my M and like Caramel have had no issues at all and need to second his review. In my opinion Recoil is next to non existent so dont believe the heavy recoil B.S., if you do stick to airsoft because your not ready for a rifle. It has shot flawlessly using Remington UMC ammo.( I have winchester white box to try as well) I am not a big fan of AR/M16 stock pistol grips (not knocking XCR as all AR platforms are the same in this respect) and it is the first thing I change on all rifles that come with one, I put on a surefire ergonomic pistol grip, a Magpul AFG, Vortex Viper PST 1-4 in the ADR cantaliver quick release mounts. I do not use my Magpul AFG in the manner it was designed for or recomended by Magpul, just not my style of shooting position but I have it mounted in a place that works very well for my style of shooting the "LRC theory based shooting system" :) so the Magpul AFG gets a thumbs up from me over a vertical grip. I have also mounted a 3 point tactical sling that works well for supporting the rifle in standing and kneeling positions that provides a positive lockup in shooting position with my hold on the magpul AFG, single point slings in my opinion are not for full sized rifles, OK with PDW's or SMG's, so one of the few improvement suggestions I can make to Rob Arms is to add the second sling points, for a 2 Grand plus rifle sling points shouldnt be too much to ask for. The Vortex PST scope is an excellent choice for this rifle, one I made by chance as the scope I was looking for was sold out in all the Edmonton shops and I am exceptionaly pleased I picked up the Vortex and may have to get another for my AR platform. With the ADR mount and in 1X power I can flip up my irons and sight through them with the scope mounted. In a nutshell this is a fabulous rifle and I thank every American that bad mouthed the XCR to help give Canada the oportunity to be the first to recieve these rifles.

I am hoping to get some time out this week, snap some pictures and do some serious shooting on paper to check groupings and fine tune the zero, but shooting at gongs on my property after laser boar sighting, shooting out to 275yrds so far I have had no issues. with 100rnds down the pipe.

I think this is one of the finest 7.62mm rifles available of this type in Canada at this time, I have shot FAL's and HK's of many varients in a battle rifle configuration and with the current Canadian gun laws have greatly missed not being able to shoot them. In my opinion the XCR knocks em outa the park and gives us an exceptional Non restricted rifle in that catagory. I am looking forward to getting out and hunting some coyotes with it.

We now have XCR-l's and M's (light and medium)... just wondering if there is a plan for a XCR-H and what calibers that may come in.

So at the end of the day.

Big thumbs up on the XCR-M. Beautiful out of the box trigger!!, low recoil with the ability to adjust the gas for extreme cold to hot days (every Canadian can appreciate this), exceptionaly ergonomic controls and feel. Good accuracy for this type of rifle without being on paper and only hitting gongs so far I would assume 1-2"MOA, I will validate this though. FAST stock....good for what it was designed to do and makes the rifle compact for transport or in vehicles. Not the best for precision work, but this is not a precision designed rifle either. It has good ajustability and so far feels solid. I have no vibration in my stock. Stock Iron sights are very good for a quick sight picture and rapid target engagement for you guys that love irons. I have rapid fired the XCR and it hums and stays on target, like I eluded to before if you have a recoil problem with this rifle you are definately doing something wrong.

Rifles not so greats: Slightly forward heavy with the longer barrel, and once you add attachements like bipod, AFG etc it can be noticeable. (Another reason a 3point sling works well with this rifle). Should come with adjustable sling attachement points for the price. Get rid of the 5 round steel mag and utilize a Pmag. Add an artic trigger guard for us Canadian shooters to flip out of the way. The Trigger guard on the XCR is large but with our bulky -40 below mitts still tight.

Great rifle, buy three!! Just my Humble opinion.

Please send Robinson Armament hat and shirt for the positive review. ;)

Have to say after took it apart for a qwick clean, we are dealing here with very well made mecanic and very precise tolerances for a rifle of that kind and after checking some bolt and screw, none were loose ( for the Loctite thing ) everything was pefectly torque... JP.
