First shots with my XCR-M... Smooth operator...

Hey, I have had an XCR-L for over a year now and just received my new XCR-M from Guy at Wolverine this week, and don't really hear anything sliding around on either......for what's that worth...
I do have a question for all you M owners who have tried all the factory and surplus ammo, what have you guys found is usually the most accurate of all the cheap stuff that's out there?

Since your in E town, I didn't find much selection there, but Remington UMC worked good for me, got some Winchester white box but haven't tried it yet.... Been wondering how the Russian Barnaul (might be spelled wrong) works?

One thing I noticed is mine internally was heavily coated in a tar like lubricant. Clean it off and a few things seemed to " loosen up " if that's a good or bad thing time will only tell.

If anyone takes apart there gas piston, valve assembly can you post some pics?

I want to compare it to mine. I'm in Newfoundland now working but will be home in Vancouver in a week or two.

Saweet. Thanx. Is there a spring that goes with it or does it just slide back and forth in the tube?

I cleaned by bolt and barely but never cracked the gas piston assembly or removed the barrel. I will be doing that as soon as I get home.

No spring.
The oprod pushes it forward, until it's blown back by gases travelling through the gas block from the barrel...

My UBR? Um no lol I may have a spare AFG tho, switching one of my L's up with a complete Larue/Magpul UDE kit. Like I said you can borrow one my optics to see what you like before purchasing no problem there. I have a Burris XTR 1-4, Viper PST 1-4, Hilux CMR 1-4 and a Elite Tactical 10x all in pepr mounts that return to zero no matter how many times I swapped them around.

Sorry to go off topic slightly but was wondering what you thought of those different scopes on the xcr-m?

It could but you'd only be embarrased by the superior performance of the XCR's.....kinda like bringing a VW to an Indy Race.

More info we gather the better. Its all cool theres a XCR sticky but the XCR-M is a entirely different beast.

This afternoon got 60 rounds of AE 150 gr, flawless operation, the last 20 rounds on gaz setting #3 and perfect operation, ejection was smooth at 4 feets just 10 degrees to the back, guess breaking in is almost done, this is a very good rifle... JP.
