First Skeet gun - CZ Drake or Mallard?

Semis are a good option and quality used ones come up often. The older 2.75" beretta 301/302/303 guns can be had for 5 to 800 easily. Remington 1100s seem to fit everyone and can be great guns.
I prefer sxs and pumps but do run a couple beretta semis and shoot best with an old 1100

The newest bereeta a300 outlander is a great gun and new theyre only 1150 to 1300 bucks. Gently used they go for 700 to 900 bucks. Theyre american built not itailian and i think that lowers resale but theyre good guns

Fit is important. Older browning and beretta ou guns with fixed chokes can be had in your budget and will be a better long term investment over a new turkish built ou. They wont have choke tubes and fancier turkish walnut or likely a hard case but they will last and shoot for ages

Ppl will argue but the older fixed choked guns patterned alot better than aftermarket threaded chokes in my experience. Skeet can be shot with tighter fixed chokes. Its not ideal and you may miss a few more targets but when youre on you know it. Choke for smoke as i says

Tbh i shot skeet today with an iver johnson single shot full choke. Smoked 21/25 first time out with it. The misses came from the wicked wind today. I had alot of fun even though i missed out on shooting doubles

If you’re intending on shooting trap and skeet (and not target clays), then an OU is the way to go. Much easier and safer to load between rounds vs a semi as you usually only load 1 or 2 shells at a time.

I started with a used Citori with fixed chokes. Cost me under 1k and that gun has lasted for thousands of rounds and never ever had a hiccup.

You are some quick if you can shoot skeet with a single shot, I couldn't reload quick enough for the doubles.:)
