I just got my first SKS from a fellow Nutter here and I have to say, it is waaaay lighter than I though it would be. The thing feels so great in my hands and is very ergonomic. I love how it looks too.

I have always been a 12 gauge junkie but now I think I will have to sell off some of my shotguns so I can collect a few more sks's.

This certainly is not what I needed, as I now have another thing to collect.

The first bad boy is a norc, now I need a tula.

Oh they are addictive alright... Just dont lose perspective... meaning they are a short range fun gun and nothing more.

Stay focused on more accurate rifles for serious hunting..:D

It seems so, excellent cheap stockpile for a zombie invasion :D As the saying goes, a pistol is just a way to get to a real gun.

After I finish working on getting my forth i am going to try and curb my SKS addiction for a little bit....... or at least until some good Yugo's show up somewhere....:D

Good luck with that, I bet Whitney Huston tried to get off the drugs a few times too, look where she is now...ooooooooooohhhhhhhhh :nest::D

I want to mount a cheap scope on this thing. Any advise on where to get what I need including the scope? Cheap is key.

Honestly I would just use open sights - that is the best way to shoot an SKS IMO. If you want to properly scope it get a good reciver mount and a decent low power scope. If you go too cheap you will find that the open sights were giving you better accuracy.

Welcome to the club. Now my friend, there's no turning back for you, you will want mores and mores soon:p If i may suggest, before adding stuff on it, get familiar with it in the original form, shoot and shoot and shoot. They are very good in military configuration.:)

Well said. I will leave it as it until I have exhausted my 700 rounds of ammo.

This is the scope I put on my Type 56...they say the receiver Mounts don't hold a zero but I haven't tried it at the range yet so I really can't say one way or the other.

sks

the sks rifle was not designed for scope action. it is what it is in it's military form. working with the existing sights on the sks rifle., you may find that your a better shot than you imagined. so far 762-39 is plentiful., so stock-up. ammo will probably rise faster than sks rifle is worth. of course reloading gives us options, but, surplus russian/chek ammo is the way to go for now. steve.

I agree, the Rifle I have in the Pic will get 3-4 inch groupings @ 100 yds with open sights...I put the scope on more to help me see the Target a bit better at that Range... aging sucks...:D the good thing is that if the scope doesn't work out it didn't cost much and I will just put the original cover back on, from what I have read the mounts lose their zero or become loose but I thought it couldn't hurt to try.

I got my first sks a couple weeks ago and I already want another. I have a 55/56 tula and want to get an izzy, yugo, one of those chinese honor guard and also one of the polish honor guards. Now to convince the wife I need them lol
