we have been super busy at work lately and haven't had much time to shoot. After working Saturday to catch up with orders, the wife wanted to shoot on Sunday. I told her the range was closed for Steel Challenge,,,, and my girl stepped up!
We have never tried speed steel before, so a first for both of us, and a quick text to CGN'er Trailskinpat got him on board for a threesome,,,, not the kind your dirty minds just went too :)
The three of us had a fantastic time shooting our first match, the wife and I shot our GSG .22 handguns and Pat rocked his M&P 15-22, and I do mean he rocked it, his times were ridiculously fast, that rifle is a laser!!
Other than the fact that it was hotter than the gates of hell out here yesterday, it was a great day, the RO's and other participants were awesome, stages were fast and fun, and the wife is definitely on board for more steel challenge and wants to try IDPA next.
Thanks to all at CFGPA for a fun, well organized event!
We took along a case of our hand popped kettle corn for the participants to munch on, and I have never seen a case of popcorn disappear so fast, lol, leading to many invites to return for the next shoot :)
The wife's only caveat to going again is that she is NOT shooting .22 next time, she wants to hear her hits, which was hard with the .22 and multiple shooters close by, so it's 9mm next time and damn the cost!

Glad you had fun edgy!!! You'll really like IDPA... Hopefully you can get onto the new shooters course with Rob. Let me know if you need his contact info and you can get in on it!

Here's a few photos!

I did the course with Rob already and shot my first IDPA at the start of June, what a great time! Now it's time to get the wife out and let her give it a try :)
Thanks for posting those pics, it was a fun time for sure.
Now I just have to do the DSSmatch qualifier and I will give that a go!

Hey, I recognize some of those faces! Glad you had fun and, having had your popcorn, I can testify to its appeal!
After the 6hr work bee the day before, I was too beat to do the Steel Challenge! And , yeah, it was HOT!!
I'm sure your wife will rock IDPA! And don't diss the .22 so quickly! The 9mm at a steel match will hit your pocket book HARD!!

I have no doubt shooting 9mm will cost a hell of a lot more, lol,,, but I'd rather pay the cost than argue with the wife :)
Hope you can make the next IDPA Still alive, the wife was totally disappointed that you couldn't make the steel shoot, lol, she wanted to shoot it together hahaha

You know it feels like just a few weeks ago that Edgy sat down with me at a local Timmy Ho's for a few hours and patiently answered all my questions and directed me towards the CFGPA ( Chilliwack range ) for membership. Now I'm broke ... gotta locker full of restricteds and have participated in my first IDPA and steel challenge competitions ! It seems we have had the good fortune to fall into a great group of people and some hella good shooters. Like Edgy's better half , my gal is becoming quite the enthusiast herself with a couple of her own handguns to work with. We've started to get out to practice what we've been shown but we have a lot to learn and a long way to go before we can count ourselves among the competitors around these parts.

In the meantime count me in for any new shooter courses or dss.match qualifiers so I can keep Edgy and his wife in my sights at least. Those two can kick my ass on a regular basis even though I've loosened, stripped and bent all their sights while they weren't looking.

It's been a pleasure shooting with you Trailskinpat, and I'm glad Karen is getting so involved!!! I knew someone was messing with my sights pal, I can't be that bad :)
