First sucessful Grouse hunt 2012 (pics)

My son shot his first Grouse on opening day of the season! It refused to stop long enough for a supported head shot ( his desire for the perfect head shot had kept him from shooting during previous seaons ) so I urged him to shoot offhand - which he did from approx. 20m and scored a neck shot that grazed the breast and punctured a wing.

It had barely hit the ground before my boy pulled its head off! Can they be mounted headless? Haha!

We spotted 5 on Saturday and 10 today! Not bad considering how thick the underbrush is right now. I think its going to be a good year

We didn't see any today, but it was extremely windy. I will have to keep trying I guess. Thats too bad....
