First tag cut! Pics added on page2

Oh yeah, I'll be out tonight putting out a trail cam again on some private land I have access to down the way. Pressure is off but I'm hoping to score a buck if possible. Snow has started sticking in the higher elevations, hopefully it will push things lower again. It's been raining again so things down low have greened up, was seeing a good number of bucks in the spring over where I'll go tonight, so we shall see!

Keep it up BB - two tags cut shortly my friend :). I'm in lazy mode now. Will wait for the rut to commence in earnest and take a buck near the orchard in November.

Thanks guys, cut and wrapped everything up this morning with my wife. It went smoothly, we trimmed off as much meat to grind as we could along with a couple big roasts, steaks, medallions and cubes to go along with the tenderloins and backstrap I already pulled out when I broke it down four days ago.

Bones will be roasted and turned into bone broth, with the bigger bones going to the dogs. Had a small bag of fat and silver skin that we dumped along with the leg/hoofs and any shot damaged trim from before. Hide was given to a friend to tan and the head was dropped off at a local game cutter for the ministry and their CWD testing. Safe to say next to nothing was wasted lol.

I really enjoyed the butchery end of it, it really is pretty interesting how easily it breaks down into the different cuts. I cut some really big thick steaks from the one hind quarter after we set the final roast aside, man was the meat gorgeous!

Can't believe I missed your thread.
Congrats man. ;)
Looks to me like you've got the good senses of a deer hunter man. That looks like a prime spot for just sittin back and blending in with nature..... and it paid off for you!!!
awesome to see new hunter success, happy for you.

oh and extra points for the classy rifle man ;)

Thanks man, best $80 I've spent in yrs. Mount and optic not included unfortunately, will be getting into reloading for it over the winter due to the very nice offer from another CGN member. It shoots well if I do my part with commercial ammo but I look forward to tailoring a load for it and hopefully getting even better accuracy out of it, as well as being able to shoot it on the regular. I love my enfields. :)
