first time at the range with the new ar

I am with Pat Rogers on how to run an AR. Run it wet. I have had very good luck for the last decade.

Grease seams stupid to me, messy, sticky and difficult to field clean quickly. A solution to a non existant problem that creates long term problems.

Unlike oil, you don't need to bathe the rifle in grease. Applied properly, grease remains viscous, in place, and does not burn, blow, or drip off like oil.

WTF?? Grease is exactly the opposite of everything you just stated.

WOW, I finally agree with you :)

If you're using a fluid lube, the AR needs to be damp. I carry a spray can of lube so if it starts to feel rough I can just give it a squirt or two and get back to shooting. AR's are really very forgiving of most things, with the exception of being run dry - as far as lube goes I've heard they've even been run on Vagisil so pretty much anything slick will do.

Vagisil is for pussy`s real men use grease :)

a good clp bath made everything work properly. was dripping out of every opening but hey it made it work:D I will look into some grease in the future as the dripping clp can make a mess.

thanks for the help guys.

Quite true -

However - an A R sh!ts where it eats - all that carbon and powder residue turns the grease into glue very quickly.

CLP is used because it turns the crud into suspension and blows it out the ejection port.
The teflon in CLP keeps the gun slick even as it dries.
