This is my first year out on the water hunting geese and ducks (haven't been out for duck season yet). Spent a good solid one day building a blind with no previous experience and i'm pretty sure I did a good job (pictures below).
I'm hunting with a buddy of mine who is also in his first season. Our first morning out we got to take some shots at a low flying flock that got scared out from a group of hunters to our north. We both unloaded on the flock and one dropped out, it didn't drop in the direction they were flying in because it was injured, it went right into the bullrushes. I spent a good hour looking for it but it was pretty much useless as I knew where it dropped was thick and inaccesable.
That night I went out by myself and it had to be the slowest night ever. I probably heard one gunshot the whole night when you can usually hear at least 10 any other year (I can hear them from my house). I was pretty much falling asleep when 3 geese surprised me from the North and I managed to shoot one of them down into the water. Man was I happpy.
So far it's been a blast, although cleaning a goose without the help of my dad (he was away but wanted me to dive headfirst into cleaning) was quite an experience.
