I went into the LGS for ammo the other day and got an overpriced Stevens 200 and Elite 3200 5-15 Tactical, lol. I need bases and rings. I have NO CLUE what to get. As for what I'll be doing with, 90% target, 10% hunting. Guidance from you gun masters would be much appreciated.

P.S. Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question. :)

I would recommend a Ken Farrell one piece base and Burris signature rings. Check with Sharp Shooter Supply, he has some of the Farrell bases for $50.

If your looking for a reasonable price to go with your Stevens try the Leupold STD mounts and rings. A two part base with med rings should work with 50mm on the scope unless you want flip covers then go to the high rings. They are about $35 for rings. Have them on my Savage Fvss;) Let me know how you like your scope.

I could be completely wrong on this, but I feel that with a one piece base, there are less problems with alignment of the rings. If the base either fits perfect, or you epoxy bed it, it should be aligned and not warped. I also quess, that the one piece base, being all tied together, is stronger. I could be wrong on that. It sure shouldn't be weaker.

A two pcs unit may give you more room to load but I am not sure if a one pcs will be much stronger for the system you are looking at. If you set it up yourself the two pcs takes a few moments too achive the proper alignment(no work really) Picture of a Savage 12Fvss with a 56mm scope on extra high Leupold rings a two pcs bases.
