I am in London Ontario, my dad and I have never hunted before but plan on trying it in a few weeks and we were thinking coyote or groundhog, if any of you guys have any more advice as to equipment, or just tips I would be more than happy to hear it.

Also any help with laws regarding small game hunting would be nice ( both my dad and I have all lisences required...except I think we need tags for coyote where we would be hunting:() And regarding when it is best to hunt which animals like I know coyotes are best to hunt in the winter even though I could hunt them year round... like I said I know little about this so I NEED HELP! Thanks

I'll preface this by saying that I am certainly not as seasoned or experienced as a lot of the folks you'll find here, and I'm sure some of them will weigh in as well.
You've started the right way - asking. Next, get your hands on the regs (available on-line) and figure out exactly what applys to the area you're hunting. Limits, seasons etc will all vary, so make sure you check before jumping in with both feet.
Second, if you can, get hooked up with somebody local who might be able to take you out. There is no substitute for a great guide, even if it's just a buddy who knows his way around. Coming from somebody who has only been hunting three years, I owe my introduction and enjoyment of hunting to a close friend who invested the time and effort in showing me the ropes. Now we hunt together all the time and have some great stories!
As far as London goes, we stick mostly to deer, ducks and geese in the surrounding areas.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Good for you and your dad. Welcome to the Nuthouse. If your going for coyote, learn to use calls. I'm not a big beliver in camoflauge for most things, but coyote hunting is one out of two exceptions. They have very sharp eyesight, so blend in.

You don't need a tag to hunt coyotes in southern Ontario. Tags are only required in northern WMU's. Check the regs to find out the specifics, but if your hunting within a couple of hours from London, you'll only need a small game license.

that is what I thought but my dad will be hunting in area 85A and apparently you need seals for coyote/wolf in that area. As far as calls go I was looking on Varmint Al's website and there is lots of info on there and he has a homemade electric caller set up and you can even download calls off the site so I was thinking of going that route. If there is anyone in this area that would like to take my father and I out hunting, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
