Hey all. I went out for my first time ever last night, with my trusty Mossberg Maverick 88 with short (open choke) and long barrel (mod choke).

For trap I got 20/25 on the first round and 19 or 20/25 on the second round (wasn't sure). I think that's pretty damn good for a first timer, what do you think?

Also tried skeet....that wasn't as good though. Probably hit half or less. It's much harder! I used the long barrel for trap and short barrel for skeet, but I think next time I'll use the long barrel for both.

In skeet you really need to swing swing swing that barrel. Great shooting for a first timer.

Did anyone tell you how easy it is to get 25 straight? Well, it only takes a few tries ;)

I have been working on that for a year now... lots of 23's and 24's at the 27 but... so far it has eluded me.

Good times at the Trap and Skeet ranges!

It is very damn good for a first timer. I've seen experienced shooters not do as well (not to mention any names of course ;) )

Welcome to the fun! And when trap and skeet stop being fun try sporting clays. It's a serious addiction.

Great first timer shooting. All three mentioned sports are an addictive and excellent pastime. I have not yet seen the new club in saskatoon but likely will check it out the weekend after next, be sure to come out and try "registered" targets.

well done..............here's a tip
On the skeet - remember the high house bird is dropping...so shoot under and in front
The low house bird is rising...so above and in front....in front is most important.
Use the open choke....

You dont need any Trap help - just practice..
