First time out with Accubonds...

I have used them in my 375 for deer moose and black bear with excellent results..No half inch groups mind you but i recovered one that wound up smashing a bull mooses hind leg, about six inches of bone, and the bullet held together great!!!!And they have been boucing around in the cab of my pickup for a year and a half,so I can show people what they look like, and no tips have come off either!!!!.

Just shoot a white-tail buck in the neck with the fine Accubond at about 80 yards, after a running gut shot. Very accurate from my '06, using the 180 grain bullets in front of 57 grain of IMR 4350.

Big exit hole in the neck and the gut shoot made a real mess. Happy I brought my diposable gloves along.

I am wondering about the message here Snow... are you saying that both these shots are undesirable... but never stop shooting while the deer is still running... I admire your honesty if that was your intent 8)
I can imagine a 180 grain Accubond in the upper spine would certainly end that deers run in a hurry... and rather dramatically

The mule deer that i got this sat. morning was shot with 270 federal premium accubond 140gr.

I estimated the range to be around 100/130 yds

He was head on, downhill and i hit him at the lower part of the neck between the shoulder blades.

I don't know the speed or the energy but in do know when he hit the ground, he was dead.

First time i've used them, they worked for me
OH, i forgot, he was a fairly big buck, the antlers at the base area are about 1.75" in dia

1.75" bases? woooo hoooo

Maybe not big for alot of guys that have been hunting for a while, but, for me, that is a decent size mule deer rack.

Only three points, but a decent size---for me anyway

My biggest one so far, so,what the hell---I'm happy :D

1.75" base circumference? thats like as big around as my little finger

just thought it was a type-o, :|

No Problem :)

I said 1.75" Dia., not circumference :!:

Mind you, this was only an estimate, however, i'm sure that if i am out, it's not by much.

BTW, i had no choice in decideing on which deer to shoot, it was the only one i had seen in two days

when I read 1.75" bases, I just automatically think circ., like for measuring for score :D

got a pic?

"Tod", i've no idea on how to measure a deer

I simply shot a buck with a decent size rack ( my biggest ) and i just thought that i would share my 2 day hunt with you guys.

I'm not wanting to get into a pissing contest of what is considered a 'big buck' it's just that i'm happy with it :D

nor am I looking to get into a pee war :p

just curious when I asked if you took a pic, I love hunting pictures :D

I just got back from sighting in my 7mm mag at the range. Tried 5 different factory loads NO. 1 Rem150g sirrocco's,NO. 2Fed165g Sierra's Premium, NO. 3Win 150g Power Point Plus, NO.4Win 160g Accubond,& NO.5Win 150g Balistic Silvertips. NO. 1= 1/2", NO. 2=1 3/4", NO. 3=1 1/2", NO. 4=5/8", &NO.5=1 3/8". Although the Swifts are 1/8" more accurate , the accubonds are $10/box cheaper& hit just as hard. My target backstop is a big block of rubber 2ftx2ftx1ft. I take my targets and staple the paper to it.The company i work for making some for the Canadian Army to try out . The bullets go in about 2-3in. The block must weigh about 100lbs. Solid as a rock& does not move

I was at the range today and fired a box of accubond 160gr winchester and out of 20 bullets two of the tips broke off in my magazine the rifle I was shooting was 7mm wsm. I think the recoil from the rifle broke the tips off.

Me too, as you have the 'best avatars' on site
They all have big racks
X2 :D :D
Congrads on the buck haggisbasher and by all means, post a pic. Hell, my moose is the smallest racked bull I've ever shot and I'm pleased as punch
Keep up the good work on the avatars Tod  I'm sure most of us like 'em 8)
