I got off work early today and it was so nice in south Saskatchewan, I wanted to take a walk through some nearby rabbit woods. I thought it might be a good day to see if my eldest daughter wanted to come. She was surprised I asked her, as Ive told her in the past she had to be 5 before she could go. Well her birthday is early may so..close enough.
She held up really well, not one complaint and was quieter than some fellas Ive hunted with.

I made sure she was fine if i shot a rabbit if we saw one(she was) and i made sure she was wearing muffs.
I bumped a bunny and it fell to my little .410.

We stopped shortly after for some hot chocolate and split a Clif bar before heading home.
All in all, a most satisfactory day. The best part is she said she had fun and wants to go again!:dancingbanana:

Good start; you managed that real well dad! Congrats! She may not always enjoy it but you have this great experience and memory and hopefully many more like it to come!

That is great. I did that with my boys when they were young. Great memories. Doing it in small doses with lots of snacks makes it fun. A campfire is also fascinating for kids. Getting something is really just a bonus at that age. Their just glad to be with their dad.

Good for you.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I was quite happy when I got home and after showing my wife the photos, I wanted to share with the Cgn community. Oh and yes rkr that is Fairy Hill. Great spot but busy today with three other cars at the trail head.

Awesome post, I usually take my little ones out in the fall after grouse, they don't mind the .410 as it is quiet (mine has a mile long barrel). Sometime my boy (9) likes to go duck hunting with me too.

If my experience translates at all, there are most certainly great days ahead for you and Rosie! Put a big smile on my face to see another little one out on adventure with Dad.

Cheers,

Brobee
