First time out with new to me m305

No pics to post. Just got back from the gravel pit for some sighting in of my resent acquisition from Kelly's online. An M305 with Archangel stock wearing a bushnell AR/308 4.5x18x40 scope on high rings. Once sighted in managed to shoot a 5 shot group at 4.25 " at 200 yards (lasered) with Barnaul fmj ammo. I'm more than impressed for what I payed . I'm a dedicated air rifle enthusiast and love to shoot and hunt small game . This is my first venture with a powderburner seeing as I can't hunt deer with any of my PCP big bore air rifles legally in Canada.
I wasn't sure of the tacticool look of the rifle but after doing some research it seemed like a good deal . Glad I did. She bangs ,she bangs .....
 
I've just finished getting my front sight set up on my M305, and without any mods at all I'm getting just over 1.5MOA.

Other than replacing the heavy steel buttpad with a longer, lighter rubber/plastic one, I think I'm going to call it good and thank the gods I got a good M305 right out of the box.
 
just got a pile of surplus ammo from Marstar and a stainless op rod . Going to go and see if I can shrink my groups . This time I'll start at 100 yards and go from there .
1.5 mow from a stock rifle , I'd say you got a good one for sure .

Your doing pretty good . With that crap ammo I can't do any better with a quality bolt rifle (ctr) try some good ammo and post what you get . I have a NM m1a that I consider 1.5moa good shooting . It does better with the gas shut off but I letter buck
 
I've also got some 180gr. Federal soft point . Not sure if I should be pushing that heavy of weight in the norinco. I've read that I shouldn't push much past 150grain . Anyone have thought on this ?

I had a box of that too, shot it off and saved the brass. One box isn't going to batter it too badly. The federal brass isn't the best, but you should be able to get a couple of reloads out of it.

no the 180's are too heavy for almost any m14 action, unless you replace the piston with a sadlak that's designed for it- and that means replacing the gas system- the 150s are fine as it was designed for 147s- howver some of use 165-168 as it gives a better performance
don't for get the FOUR and out rule OR YOU MIGHT GET A HEAD SEPARATION- personally, I found fed to be very poor brass, I use Winchester, followed by r-p( Remington peters)then fed I've I don't give a chit about my reoads- of course lapua is the best, but who can afford any of that European brass- esp when it goes flying over hells half acre
