Good evening y'all,

I bought my kit a few weeks ago and tonight I was finally ready to reload some ammo.

Unfortunately, I seem to be having a problem (or so I think) with my 9mm Carbide Dies.

When I resize casings it gives no resistance and it doesn't seem to resize at all. Plus when I measured the mouth of the casing, it's way over tolerance and the bullet seats way too deep While on the other hand when I resized with my .45 ACP dies each there was resistance and you could feel the metal working there ;).

Could it be that my die kit is defective (like a .40 SW die in a 9mm kit) My kit was already missing the neck sizing piece and the company sent one directly to me free of charge.

Thanks in advance for you help.

If you need more info I'll provide! I doubt pictures would be useful thought!

The die setup is pretty obvious, I should think you got it right. I can't remember though, are the dies stamped with their respective caliber?

Based on the details you provided, it definitely seems as though your skipping the sizing part. The bullet seating too deep could be a problem with your flaring die, if you got some loaded rounds done up, do the fit into the chamber?

It's stamped : LEE 10/40 H9

Sounds like a 10mm/.40 sizing die. I just took a look at my Lee .44 Mag dies and they are labeled .44/.44M. If you don't see the 9mm on there, I bet it is the wrong size. Are they all labeled 10/40, or just the sizing die?

No idea on the bullet seating depth issue, beyond making sure you have the adjusting screw backed way out to start with.

My Lee .45 ACP are stamped such.

Lee's website lists a .40 S&W/10mm die set.

Looks like you got the wrong size die in the box. Did you buy it used? I'd take it back and ask for the proper size.

I am very glad I saw this while I was skimming thru the forum... guess what, I started looking at all my pistol die sets... and low and behold I opened a 9mm set and guess what there is a 10/40 die in the 9mm set... looks like someone screwed up a batch of them at the factory... I normally check the orders very carefully, like open up the box to make sure the parts are in there because there is nothing worse then paying for shipping and finding out things are missing and/or wrong...

How'd it go? Just interested in how Lee handles something like that.

OutL4W has two options deal with lee directly odds are they will just send him the correct die.

or

Deal with me... id just send him a new set with a prepaid shipping label so he can send the set back to me then ill have to deal with lee... Its totally out of my control I had nothing to do with the mix up I just hope the other 3 sets I sold didn't have this same problem I normally order my dies in 5 or 10 pcs at a time.

Option 2 is quicker because you get the correct dies and I have to deal with the problems then. Lee is exellent when it comes to customer care.

msg.drew - Hey, no offence. You sold a sealed box from a reputable company - nobody's throwing any blame your way. This certainly seems to be one of those factory Oopsies that come along every so often.

Given that the OP said he was going to take it to Lee, I just wanted to hear what they had to say.
