First time reloading and quick LnL AP review

Took me a minute to figure out what I'm looking at, never occurred to me that it's actually broken off... my first thought was "um ok... put it back in?" Report back about how they take care of you

Yup, snapped in half... I need to look into the case lube option, I guess there was too much stress being put onto the drive hub... but still... It looks like it's supposed to be pretty robust... looks can be deceiving I guess...

That's it. They'll send you a new one for free.

Is that snapped in half?

Mine just kept snapping that little nodule on the top. Nothing like yours.

WoW!

For me, it took a lot more lube than I would have thought or the guy teaching me, that knows reloading. But now that I have that sorted out, it's been flawless. And the rounds are great.

Called it in, the very nice lady on the other end of the phone said she will send the part out right away. I asked if the manufacturing process has changed for this part, she said no. I asked for two of these just to be safe and she said OK. So far so good, now I just have to wait for it to show up at my door.

Hornady will look after you very well. They have sent me parts that I fessed up and told them it was my fault that it broke! The guy I spoke to said it was his job to keep my press reloading.

I am not sure how more lube would put less stress on the drive hub? wouldn't be turning until brass is out of the die. Maybe I am missing something?

The most stress that seems to come from my LNL AP is from the expanding die. When I retract the press down from the die sometimes it sticks more than it should and this would put strain on the shellplate and in turn the drivehub. This could have been the cause to his failure. I can't lube the inside of the cases though so I think the best investment would be into clean brass via a stainless tumbler.

Makes sense, it's the one time when it really has to pull. But with using liberal amounts of hornady and letting it dry completely, even my non-carbide 50 die which used to make me feel like I'll flip the table over getting the cartridge out of it, is nice and smooth now

I broke it once, by decapping. Or maybe that was both times. But now, it's been 100% since the third hub.

Nope, I'm wrong. It was decapping pins that bent, the hub broke after decapping.

If you must force that much to get a case out of a die then try another type of lube.
As I have mentioned earlier in the thread for a spray on application try Dillon or Frankford Arsenal case lube
For lubricating cases one by one try Hornady Unique or Imperial Sizing Wax.

I have produced over 10,000 rounds on my press and have processed over 40,000 pieces of brass through it without breaking the drive hub.

As for how long it will take depends on Canada Customs.
When I have had Hornady ship me parts to Canada it took 3 weeks.
When they shipped to my US shipping address I had the parts in 3 days.
