First time reloading

I'm just new to reloading and I would like to hear more opinions on what people are using. I know I would like a precision setting die and a collet, or would I want a bushing die? Should I buy lee dies or Redding dies.

You can't even begin to compare Lee to Redding. Redding for the win in this case. Take a look at Forster competition dies the are better value then redding and just as good in my opinion. I use Forster.
 
I'm using lee collet dies right now, I seem to be getting moa or better accuracy with all of my loads. That being said I have no experience with redding etc but I've only heard good things.

To start out lee dies will do the trick, if you decide you want more expensive dies in the future then you can make your decision then.

No kidding! You can get three sets of Lee dies for the price of one Redding! :stirthepot2:

For getting started and learning on, I would just keep it simple and buy the Lee (Deluxe?) set of dies that come with both full and neck sizers. By the time you have reloaded enough and got good enough that the Lee dies are actually the weak link in the reloading chain, you'll have learned enough to make it worthwhile to spend the big bucks on Redding or Forster.

Now as for presses, they all make pretty good ones, but the Reddings and Forsters are especially nice.
 
Start simple and cheap, but only in certain areas. This way if you decide it's not your thing you can bail on your gear later and take less of a hit. Concentrate more on getting it right then grow from there and learn from your mistakes.

Can't go wrong with lee dies, its mostly what I use.
 
Thanks so much for all you input guys. To be honest I absolutely love this sport, with no question I know I'm just going to get heavily into reload as well.Unfortunately at this point in time .308 dies seem to be hard to come by, with that being said I've got to take what I can get and decided to order a rcps bushing neck sizing die.
 
I learned early on buying cheap stuff is just a waste of money. You don't have to go high end on everything but don't try to save money on dies, buy redding or Forster. I prefer Forster myself. Get a decent press, Redding or RCBS. Buy a good scale or powder dispenser. And don't go cheap on measuring tools, its tough to stay consistent if you never know what you are working with.

Worst case scenario, good quality gear holds its value and sells quickly on the EE.
