First time shooting handguns today

Funny how anti and firearm knowledge is inversely proportional.

Try to get the ladies to start on a quiet time with low recoil like 22lr. Seen too many females newbies freaked out by others firing large bores nearby on or given large calibers.

Just yest wonder why this obvious newbie female was firing factory 45ACP with lots of flinch. Guy who brought her only had a 45. I volunteer my 22lr or WC 357. Surprise surprise response is always NO recoil, that was fun.

Wait till OP tries 357, 44 and 50s. What a blast.

As for customing don't bother till you get at lease several thousand rounds under your belt. A good shooter with proper grip and trigger control shoots everything well.

Nice post and well put.....my wife is not keen on hand guns but my son and daughter want me to bring them to the range so we'll see what happens.
A handgun is just a smaller version of a rifle. I dont get how people can be ok with one type of gun and not another. Keep working on her man!

essentially I just flat out told my wife that I wanted a new hobby and that I was going to buy a handgun and join a range. she said go for it. she has no interest in the sport at all, but she would never say to me that she wouldn't allow it, any more that I would ever say the same to her about anything that she wanted to do as a hobby or interest. guess it just depends on how strong you are as a couple and the element of mutual trust.

Thats good. Glad to hear she's supportive of your new hobby. She won't be happy when it turns to an obsession and it starts draining your bank account.

Couple more steps done. Joined the range last night, said I'll take a gun on EE and faxed my membership card to the CFO this morning.
