First time with 7-08, need data

Win 760 and the 140gr bullet is stellar. From the 6th edition Hornady book..........7-08 139gr MAX 41.5gr/Varget/2800fps Start a couple grains lower and work up.Your OAL will vary per rifle so seat a dummy round to touch the rifling then back it off a little so it's not touching and feeds properly through the magazine.I use a sharpie marker to color the bullet then look for marks............Harold

140 gr anything and the popular powders like H4350, W760(H414) and similar burn rates will produce excellent results and like others have stated , start low and work up the load to find the sweet spot.

You will likely(in my experience) find accuracy nodes about every 150-200 ft/sec with 140's in 7-08.

The reloading data center at the Hodgdon web site lists Varget load limits for a 140gn bullet. It's not the same bullet you have but the weight is the same so you can use the min and max load numbers as your trial range.

From there it's a matter of finding the charge weight that works best with your bullet and your barrel.
