Glock 21, 45ACP. 20 rds. I'm officially not a glock fan.

Unfortunately this was at 10m.

I fired 9,40, and 45. I was quite surprised that the recoil of all 3 was way below what i was expecting, and the .45 was really not much more than the 9.

Sig p226 felt so much nicer, can't wait to try a 1911 (having only held one, the 1911 seems to fit me nicer than anything other than a cz sp01
 
Yep. Hook, line, sinker plus netted and already in the cooler.... :D

For the best possible reason for owning handguns look around at what sort of handgun events are held by your local clubs. The main reason I ever got my RPAL was IPSC to start. But I've also found out and shot in a bunch of other events that center around handguns. SUPERB fun!
 
No kidding?? What's a good group then at 10 and 20 yards? (Or whatever the normal distance is) I figured i was all over the place lol
 
Well, I've been shooting handguns for a little while now (10 or so years) and if I can get fist sized groups at 25 yards, standing, 2 hand hold, with bone stock pistols I'm very happy with myself. I am only slightly more accurate with revolvers in SA. (all center fire)

Many here are superb shots, and many more claim to be...I am neither.:)

edit, "normal distance" for handguns is quite close like 7 yards. 25 yards (75 feet) is out there shooting pistols. I would equate 25yards shooting pistols to 200 yards shooting rifles (iron sights) if that makes any sense?

Good shooters at 10 years can produce one inch round groups without too much trouble. A few gifted shooters I've seen will produce 3/4 inch size groups at that distance. I've personally shot 1.5" groups at 12 yards on many occasions. And that translates to a hair over 1 inch at 10. On a good day I can manage some 2 1/2 inch groups at 20 yards which is the distance of my club's indoor range. But I'm usually more like 3 to 4 inch size groups at that distance. I know of at least a dozen shooters that can beat me any day of the week though. So while I might be a little better than average I'm far from Olympic team material. The old guy eyes and nerves ensure that this won't be a risk... :D

But as I say I've seen many a long time shooter that has never gotten past some issues and that can at best only keep things within 6 inches at 10 yards. So for a first time performance at shooting with .45acp you did darn well. You won't get on the Canadian Olympic team with your performance but it's certainly nothing to scoff at.
 
Thanks! After the day at the range, waiting for my rpal, and then the time to become a range member is going to seem even longer. I'll probably go spend another bucket of money next week. Both of the guns i was interested to try out were broken when i went last time :/

Goal set - 1 inch at 10m.

Can't wait to become a club member and take some training!

With a bit of practice I'm sure you will get there.
