So I bought a Wilson Combat Multi-Comp Bushing Compensator. Now before you go off on a rant that they are simply eye candy and they don't do anything in the way of actual recoil compensation let me say that I already know that. First I'll admit that one of the reasons I bought this is because I love how it looks. The other thing was to see if I could actually make it fit.

I have never done anything like this before so I sat down with my files and emery cloth and got to work. Below is the result. I think it fits okay. Everything seems to lock up good and solid. I want to polish the area I filed a little more to make it a little smoother. I'm hoping to get out to the range and try it out this afternoon yet.

Looks good!

Thanks. I kinda like it too. :D

And where did you get that nice mat? I want one..:)

I've had that mat for almost 20 years now. The Smith & Wesson website still has them available for $9.95.

Well I went out to the range and put 100 rounds through it. It seems to be as accurate as the factory bushing. I say "seems to be" because I live in the middle of the bald-@$$ prairie and the 2 trees per 100 square kilometres that we have don't block much wind. The wind is howling but I shot a few good groups at about 10 yards and I was hitting an 8 inch square metal plate fairly regularly at 25 yards. and like I said the wind is blowing at 27 km/h according to the weather network. I also had the rear sights off the other day and haven't had a chance to adjust them properly either. Once I get a calm day I'll be able to get a better idea of the accuracy with this.

That actually looks pretty good. How do you like S&W's 1911? I'll be looking for one this year. I've heard a lot of good about them.

I really like the SW1911. Its very accurate, fit and finish is excellent. I don't have any complaints at all with the gun. Your going to be very happy with it.
