Hey all,

im new to hunting, but i can shoot ok. none of my friends hunt and my girlfriends family members who hunt are all talk and i do not think they will take me with them ( i do not even know if they hunt anymore ). so i booked off a week for a vacation but i could not go, so now i have a week off and not much to do and i'd love to try deer hunting. i went through the hunting regulatios but would like your suggestion about where to go. i am toronto, and would travel maybe 3-4 hours for a day/2 day hunt. i do have a rifle and hunting licence, just dont know where to start and where to go for my first time. ( not looking for someone's secret spot, just a place to spend a day or two thats half decent ). if you can suggest something for me, i really appreciate it.

thank you.

- Happy.

You're best bet right now is to head North for the Regular season hunt. Find some crown land that no one is using, and head in. Take a compass:D. Regular season is open until the end of this week. There is a place in Port Loring, wmu 47, Wright Point Resort. They have rooms for rent, for a decent price. Nice area, beautiful landscape, lots of crown land. You never know, you might get lucky.:D

It's a little late in the season to look for spots, but all the best to you. Take note that there isn't a rifle season in most parts of Southern Ontario. In most areas, shotgun season has also ended. Unless you bow hunt, you might have missed the boat. Good Luck.

Try talking yo people who make their living off hunter/tourist dollars such as sporting goods store or a gas station owner once you find an area that has some crown land. They have more to gain than other hunters and will be more likely to give up a good area. Be carefull
