Went out to shoot skeet and sporting clays tonight for the first time. Had a lot of fun! We used to shoot "skeet" at the hunt camp when i was younger, but think of it as shooting position 5 and 6 only, low house only, and half speed clays. Needless to say, it was a little different from what i remember!

I ended up shooting 11/25 on my skeet round, and 13/25 on my sporting clays round. All the guys said i did pretty good considering it was my first time, and the fact that i was shooting "half a gun" :) Took out my old deer shotgun, mossberg 500 pump, with an 18.5 inch cylinder bore barrel! I'm going to try it again next week, but i think i'll use my dads yildiz spzme and see if i can do any better :)

Shot a second round of skeet after and didn't bother scoring, just for practice, but i think i did a little better. Got some tips from a couple of the old timers, and invited out to shoot again! All in, i found the sporting clays to be a lot more fun, mostly because of the rabbit :)

That sounds great MW, especially the part where you had fun. Skeet is a great game in itself and it is good practice for some presentations in sporting clays too. One thing I did that has really helped me with skeet was buy Todd Bender's DVD "Winning With Fundamentals in Skeet". It's $59.95 US, but cheap at twice the price, if you're interested in skeet. Bender is a very good teacher and recognized as such both here and abroad in the UK. I'm saving up for his doubles DVD and I see he has one on shot anaysis in skeet too. Jeez...broke again!!!:D I bought my copy of his DVD through Shotgun Sports magazine: www.shotgunsportsmagazine.com should get you there.
