I've only ever shot pellet guns before yesterday. Since then i'm extremely interested.

Story is I went up a mountain with my gf and her brother in-law to shoot his shot gun. Ended up shooting those clay things. Out of the 20 he threw up i shot 18 of them. He was extremely impressed. Mind you i have a bruised up shoulder for being a first timer and shooting some deer slugs also... :p

From here i'm wondering what would be some sort of first timer shot gun. Price and brands would be nice, looking to not spend very much. I'm getting my gun license soon hopefully.

I live in the cloverdale/Langley/surrey area so i'm also wondering where i could go around there to do any shooting.

Thanks!

I'm also a noob when it comes to trap, but can really see myself getting in to the sport. I was looking at the Mossberg Silver Reserve Sporting for a beginner trap gun, the price is decent and the online reviews are good as well.

If your looking for a beginner Trap gun, don't buy a Mossberg. A better bet might be to look for a used Browning BT99. Great Trap guns and they can be found at very reasonable prices.

If I were you the first thing I would do is find a trap range and go on a practice day. Chances are you will be able to try a few guns and get an idea of what you like. If you tell them you are new and want to learn, chances are you will get lots of advice, some of it even good. Also you will probably have the opportunity to try lots of different guns.

Welcome to the club, sporting clays is just so FUN!, like a cool video game. Get your PAL, and walk into your local gun store (or order online and have shipped to your door) and grab your self a Remington 870 Express 12GA. There are very hand to beat for the price and quality. It will cost you about $350.00 NIB

Good luck and happy shooting :)

Try the Vancouver Gun Club on Sidaway Rd. Richmond,Sporting Clays,Skeet, Trap,Sat,Sundays might find a good used deal on the wall for sale

I see by your location you are near the a.h.e.i.a. club. They are open everyday except monday and tuesday noon til dark or around 5 PM for this time of year. The club manager, Gert will be availble to give first time instruction if needed. There are often many around who will let you try their guns and give advice. Remember that the advice is free and you know what you get for free? The club also rents guns at $5.00/day. You might need to shoot a bit before you begin to understand your needs in a trap gun. Try one every time til your understand your needs. In the meantime Gert is a good guy to tell that you are looking and what is in your price range.

I would suggest to try the different shotgun disciplines (spoting clays, skeet and trap) and see what you like best before buying a gun. If you buy a gun I would suggest you buy one with interchangeable choke which will allow you to shoot everything with the same shotgun. There are a lot of used gun around. You can also try the Mission Rod and Gun club. They have a Sporting Clays course (Golf with a shotgun), Skeet and Trap.

Good Luck

Langley and Mission both have good clubs for Trap ( are any of those a.h.e.i.a ??)
Go to the PITA web site ( www.shootpita.com) and look under registered clubs. Addresses and maps for both as well as other info will be there.

The Langely rod and gun club shows skeet and trap on the website. Lots of other activities as well. I'm looking at moving up the valley a ways in the next year and this is one of the more interesting looking clubs.
