I picked up a used USGI stock on the EE a while back. It needed some love...there was 2 part epoxy in some funny places. A bit of hot water, sanding, and some paint, it was looking much better. Took it out to the range today with some handloads...shot 3 5 round strings for groups, then just plinked away at the 5" steel targets at the 100m line.
Groups were all ~2" with irons sights, which made me super happy...that's about half what it was shooting with the balsa wood chinese stock, and I didn't miss a single shot on the steel targets
Load was 150gr Hornady fmjbt (3037B) over 41.0 grains of Varget.
Still tempted to try scoping it, but this is accurate enough now to be fun just with the iron sights.
