Sure was a rush, good luck to everyone else!

Haha I bought some tape but didn't want to put it over the rib or action so figured it wouldn't help much anyways. I was debating cross posting to the BPS vs 870 thread too "BPS don't need no stinkin' camoflage for turkey"

44: On a farm near Vars, just about 30 mins east of Ottawa. Hopefully, we can get another 1 or 2 out of there for the freezer, my girlfriend shot at a gobbler that morning but the lucky thing ducked its head just as she squeezed the trigger from about 15 yards away.

I'm just out in Vernon, not that far from Vars. Lots of turkeys man!! I'm going to get back at it this week and see if I can get another one for the pan too!

As for your girlfriend, you'd be best to punish her and let her know that this is unacceptable behavior!! ;)
Seriously, congrats on having a girlfriend who's a hunting partner...that's AWSOME! I hope she doesn't feel bad, those frikken turkeys are the most elusive animals I have ever encountered. You have to do it "perfect" of they DO vanish!

You can say that again! That's why there is only about a 25% success rate. This is my first season & I am definately hooked. Looking for that 2nd bird now.

I haven't met a hunter yet who's started turkey and isn't completely hooked. It's probably more addictive than crack!!

Moose is usually my favorite hunt, but turkey is pretty much tied! Lots of action...I love it!

And they're soooo tasty!:)

So.....I went out again on Sunday morning. I was soooo tired, but figured it'd be easier for me to sleep in the woods rather than at home when the little ones woke up!!

haha.....I was almost right.

Set myself up in a usual cornfield....kicked back, and began to fade off...no calling and no hopes of even seeing a bird. (My buddy was a couple fields away where there actually WERE turkeys!)
I heard the morning gobbles from his area and just awaited the gunshot. It never came....I figured it would have woken me up on time to go.

Nope, I just kept on sleeping a beauuuuutiful snooze.

THEN, I was RUDELY awoken by what I thought was another hunter making extrememly loud hen calls. (Yelps).
Cooincidently, I'm thinking....hey....this guys calling isn't toooo bad, maybe a little loud though.

Then it happens.....there she is walking across the field towards me, yelping to beat hell. (Couple clucks here and there) I swear this 4ucking hen looked like a tom in full strut. She was frikken huge!! must've been 20lbs.

Yelping with that call you only hear from a very mature female....or a triple-reed split v! I mean she had more of a whisky soaked voice than Nina Blackwood! It was awsome!

She made her way right past me, and around the whole field. I stayed up thinking maybe she'll bring in a tom! Hell.....I can't really out-call her!! Like...her calling HAS to be better than mine...she's a frikken turkey!!

Well, at one point, I through a yelp in when she was on the other side of the field. It didn't phase her at all.

She finally piped down and I went back to my Oh-So-Peaceful sleep!

The end....

PS : (She never did get any males to come to her.....but it was obvious that she'd been "around-the-field" a few times)

Good story 44Fordy, LOL. I have fallen asleep before on the stand. Good reason to wear that safety belt if you up a tree, no problem when on the ground:D . Well there are 2 weekends left for the clock punchers. I haven't had a chance to get out yet to try & fill my second tag. Have to make time this week. Let us know how you do next time out. I will do the same.
