First wheelgun

I bought a Smith 6" 686 at the beginning of the season, shot steel challenge with it all summer. Love it! I was debating between the 686 and a GP100. No regrets!

I'm a S&W guy myself and love all of mine. Never had any issues and they are all better shooters then I am myself.

Then again, my dad is a ruger guy and has a small collection of them, SA and GP 100. Once again, never had any issues with them and they are all great shooters.

Cant go wrong with either.

I can't really speak to Rugers as they have never appealed to me for some reason and I have never owned one. I tried an Alfa proj 9mm but found it didn't come close to my other revolvers so it went away. I have just over a dozen revolvers (a mix of S&W's and Colts') that range from WW I era to the early 80's.....all great guns. The OP wouldn't go far wrong to take his $800 to the EE in search of a Colt or Smith.
