He was up at 5am like a trooper, had his breakfast and his stuff on for 5:50 and ready to go down to the tree stand.
he lasted until 8am when he couldn't keep from fidgeting and talking out of a whisper. 2 hours of sitting quietly for a 6 year old is pretty good i think.

maybe we will go out after lunch and he can walk with grampa and see about pushing some deer to me at the other end of the forest.

Even daddy was getting fidgety by the 2 hour mark. 3 is my personal limit before I head home lol.

Congratulations dad. Great pic too.

The most important thing with the yougnins, is knowing their limit.
An early quit while he's still having fun, is worth more than the extra hour of hunt time, when he's not.

In my estimation - spending time is the important part.

It could be playing hop-scotch on the driveway for all it really matters.

But he looks pretty good in Hunter Orange, so there's that.
:)

He us looking forward to helping grampa push the forest. Likely as I told him he could be loud while doing it lol. Hard for a hyper 6 year old to whisper all the time lol.

Yep same. Its quiet. I have deer calls on my phone. And I can hear most everything around. Damn chikadee's make a hell of a lot of noise for such a small bird...

Cute little bugger! I wish someone got me into hunting at a young age, Think of all the stuff he will learn by the time he is old enough to go on his own.

He has the nose for it. Walked past a new scrape thismorning and after we got into the stand he whispered "dad, what was that awful smell just before we got to the stand?". I just smiled and said "thats where that 6 point buck scraped the ground and peed on the spot to say this is his property".

Its teaching him how to spot the deer tracks through the leaves.
