I recently bought a few cordura front bags of different size from Sinclair, as well as a nice mid-height bumblebee rear rest (all protektor). I just filled up the front bags with walmart plastic beads and I've been playing around with my rifle.
It seems that the front bag for hunting rifles (the smallest), is a bit smaller than the front end of my laminate 12 BLVSS, but when the weight of the rifle rests on it, it snugs into a nice tight fit. However it still slides nicely, even without silicone spray.
The front bag for varmint rifles is of course a bit wider, and the front end of the stock fits well, but just a bit looser than a snug fit.
Which one of these fits is more desirable? I'd be leaning towards the first but I'd like to hear other people's experiences. My front rest is a Caldwell BR.
Note that the front end of my laminate stock is varmint width, but it's slightly rounded on the edges.
Thanks for the info.
