Fitco scopes

I've got a bunch of Fitco/Futong scopes. Overall, I'm pretty happy. I've got the 1.5-4.5x 20 on a spring-piston air rifle, and have had for almost 2 years and about 2000 shots, still hanging on!
My oldest Futong is an 8x-32x 50 that has been on my M14 for several hundred shots, my 6.5-'06 for a couple hundred shots and my .30-'06 for about 100 shots, still works great.
I've got a 3x-9x 42 compact on my wife's .22 pump that's been there about 4 years, it's got some spherical aberation that makes staring through it for a long time unpleasant for me (like waiting for that last gopher to stick his head up), but some people don't even see the problem on a quick inspection.
I've got a 4x-16x 50 side focus on my .22 bolt-gun (it was from the first run of the Fitco side-focus scopes, and is labeled as a 6x-24x but it's not)
I've got a 3x-9x 50 that I keep in rings and sighted in as the spare scope for my .30-'06 (the regular scope is a Bushnell but if it becomes non-functional on a hunting trip, I can just swap-on the Fitco, check the zero with the bore sighter, and I'm back in business).
Plus I've got a couple that are still in their boxes, that I bought when they were on sale.

I've had problems with 2 scopes from Futong right out of the box, both went back and I got prompt refunds.
The only one I had fail on a rifle, had the occular lens broken when I picked-up a case I thought was closed, the rifle slid-out, and landed on the occular lens on a concrete staircase.
Had I spent $500+ on the scope it might have been covered under warranty, as it was a $100 scope, I pitched it into the tall grass and got another.

I ended up with one free at one time so put it on a 22. It didnot take long before I discovered it was not worth keeping even in that application.
People kick tasco but I have some here 30 years and still work fine but this scope was just a poor grade and not worth buying.

I've owned three of them - a 2-7x rimfire, a 10-40x and a red dot. Sold the 10-40x, but only because I sold the rifle it was for. That one got a bit dim and fuzzy at the higher magnifications, but that's standard for cheap scopes. (By the way, I also had a Tasco 8-24x at one time, and I would say that the Fitco, when dialed down to 24x was superior.)

They were all solidly built, had good positive click adjustments and held zero. The optics are so-so, but you are never going to get great lenses for that kind of price.

The main thing is to keep your expectations reasonable and think about how you're going to use them. I have the rimfire and the red dot on guns I don't shoot very often. No sense in tying up serious money on those plinkers. The cheap optics work OK when I need them.

If the gun is for hunting or for half serious competition you would be better off saving up for a higher quality optic. Personally I think that the mid-range Bushnells (like the 4200) are excellent scopes for the price.
