So I bought a Boyd's walnut stock that I love but realized that a little work needed to be done for a proper fit, as would be expected. I filled the area for the op-rod spring guide retaining pin, realized the op-rod was touching the bottom of the barrel channel so I removed a small amount there and some other little things. My Main question is, I know the heel area (the rearmost part of the receiver) is supposed to have a small gap between it and the stock, but mine is contacting. I have a VERY tight lock up as well, but it passes all safety checks. Would you remove some material on the stock under the heel or perhaps where the receiver makes contact a little further forward on the sides? Or maybe something completely different altogether? And is there anything else I missed that I should keep an eye out for? I would really appreciate some input from people with experience.

I love a tight lockup (voice of a match shooter here). In the past I even took a rubber mallet to my trigger guard. 
Better yet, I played it safe and greased the trigger guard hooks where they engage the bottom of the receiver mortises. So that way, during the lockup process, I would minimize the chances of breaking one of the hooks off the trigger guard latching points. Ask me how I know this!
Now regarding wood stocks....
Wood ONLY compresses further with time, space, humidity, earth's rotation, coriolis force, and global warming. So that's why my match shooter spidey senses tell me to always shoot with a synthetic stock if you are competing for points.

Haha thanks for the insight, Barney. I actually acquired this stock from you! And yes, I'm pretty darn near the rubber mallet method, however I won't be competing with this guy, just my fun/hunting rifle...I have a 700 action getting massaged at the moment for that...
